The eyes are of substantial importance for the mental development of your kids, because healthy eyes and thereto related sharp eyesight are prerequisites for an optimal brain processing of received images. Perfect visual learning is especially for school-age children very important, as they receive every day tons of new information and over 80% of it through the eyes. That’s why eye problems can be a cause of learning disabilities, such as reading difficulties, writing disabilities or short concentration periods. Other than adults, children don’t perceive blurry images or diffuse light as disturbing or not normal. Therefore, they often don’t complain about visual problems. You can though identify such vision disorders on symptoms like frequent rubbing of the eyes, blinking, squinting, repeated headaches, tilting the head to one side or a very short distance to books and other documents.
If your kids show one or more of the above characteristics, you should take action as soon as possible. In addition to an indispensable visit at the ophthalmologist’s, more exercise in the fresh air and an eye-friendly lighting can already make a big difference.
- Visit an ophthalmologist
- Give your children’s eyes some fresh air!
- Let there be the right light!
If you follow these three tips, your children are not only able to see effortlessly and sharply, but their performance at school will also skyrocket.
