So after you take care of some basics like upgrading your workstations and adding some breaks into your work (just take your eyes off the screen every 25 minutes or so). The biggest game-changer you can implement is getting yourselfthe right lighting.
Let’s take a look at what the wrong lighting can do.
Firstly, bright is not always right. Many offices today suffer from overly brightly lit environments and this is one of the biggest causes of eye-strain. Watch out for these extremely bright fluorescent lights.
Secondly, beware of the glare. Glare and reflection caused by uneven lighting or reflective digital screens can cause you to squint, and that’s a sure sign of unhappy eyes.
Finally, it’s grim when it’s too dim. In today’s world we often work using multiple digital devices at the same time, as well as hard copies of printed materials. What we don’t want is a work area that is insufficiently lit, like by a lamp with a small area of light focus. Your eyes work extra hard trying to read and understand things in the dark.
The solution to most of these lighting problems is simple. Set up your work area that’s eye-friendly with a lighting system (fancy talk for a quality lamp) that gives you glare free, evenly lit illumination with an expansive lighting area. There are several attributes to look for.
Your lamp should be flexible so that you can set it up just right to fit your workspace. It should use LED lights, which provide even illumination. It should have a large illumination area – and, this is important, the area should be evenly lit to avoid glare and dead spots. As a bonus feature, you should look for lamps with sensors that can adjust the light to fit perfectly according to the ambient light of the environment. This will be a big plus to make your eyes super comfy.
After that, pick a light that looks good and solid. Having beauty in your workspace is a sure fire way of feeling better while working away.
I hope these tips have been enLIGHTening for you. Follow them, and you’re sure to have more comfortable, more productive, and happier workdays ahead.
